From 8th to 12th February
2005, the Fraternity SIGNUM FIDEI held in LIME-Peru
the 1st Latin American Assembly. The following
countries participated to the event: Costa Rica,
Nicaragua, Panama, Bolivia, Mexico, Venezuela,
and Peru (Arequipa, Lima, Urabamba, Cuzco,
Quillabamba, San Juan de Lurigancho, and
Trujillo)
UMAEL was invited to take part to this Assembly
and its President, José Ramón Batiste, gave a
speech on “The Lasallian Former Student, an
excellent candidate for SIGNUM FIDEI”, while the
speech of its General Secretary, Claudio Zegarra,
was on: “The Solidary UMAEL”.

We were all the time in the company of Br. Víctor
Franco, General Advisor and Worldwide Counselor of
SIGNUM FIDEI, who gave a speech on: “Identity and
Mission of Signum Fidei” |

Lasallian Scholl “SIGNOS DE FE” |
 |
All participants visited the
Lasallian School “SIGNOS DE FE”, in San Juan de
Lurigancho, which has been built thanks to the
hard effort and courage of Signum Fidei members
of Peru, as well as to the help of different
NGOs, such as “EDIFICANDO” of La
Salle-Maravillas of Madrid and PROYDE of Spain,
and of many other anonymous collaborators.
Military Bishop of Peru, Monseñor Piñeiro (a
former student of La Salle School of Lima) spent
the whole afternoon with us at the School Signos
de Fe, together with the children, their parents,
and their relatives. We all enjoyed the pleasant
school party they organized. |

ASSEMBLY |
|
An important testimony was that of the large group of
young members of Signum Fidei, who explained their
experiences in the apostolate. They are greatly
encouraged by Br. Manuel Olivé. |
|
|
BROTHER VISITOR of PERU |
|
With the occasion, the President and
the General Secretary of UMAEL paid a formal visit to
the new Brother Visitor, Miguel Luna, in order to thank
him for the support the District of Peru is giving to
the former students. During our visit, he told us he had
appointed Br. Manuel Olivé as Br. Counselor of the
former students of the Peru District.

|
It visits
the President of the Congress of the Deputies of the
Reppública of Peru, Mr. Ántero Flores Aráoz, former
students of La Salle Lima |

|
FORMER STUDENTS ASSOCIATION OF
LIMA |
|
We also held a meeting with the
Board of Directors of the Former Students Association of
Lima, in which we encouraged the young members of the
Board to always bear in mind the solidary actions. The
meeting resulted in a series of commitments for the
future. We met as well with 2 young former students of
the Lasallian School NOE ZEVALLOS of Lime to start the
procedures for the setting up of a Former Students
Association. |

We want to express our hearted
thankfulness to the Br. Visitor of Peru, Miguel Luna, to
La Salle Community of BRUÑO-Breña in Lima for its
welcome, to Ernesto Vallejo and his team, to the Peru
National President of Signum Fidei and his whole team,
to Br. Jorge Rivera-Muñoz, to the Board of Directors of
La Salle School of Lima, and specially to Br. Manuel
