Meeting of the Executive Committee
|
|
The
Executive Committee of the World Union of Lasallian
Former Students held its annual meeting on November 20
and 21, 2004 in Cochambamba – Bolivia, where we were
extremely welcomed by the District Br. Visitor, Marcos
Pacheco, by Br. Carlos Bustillo, Director of La Salle
School of Cochambamba, and by the whole Directive
Council of the Association of Former Students of the
city, which is presided by Oscar Gonzalez Gamez |
|
|
Why in
Cochabamba? |
 |
The aforementioned
Cochambamba Association organized the 5th
National Congress of Lasallian Former Students
of Bolivia that was held on November 18 to 21,
2004. The former students of Bolivia had not met
for 39 years, and the Congress resulted in an
authentic show of youth, commitment, and
Lasallian projects for the future. The
Associations of Oruro, Santa Cruz de la Sierra,
Tarija, La Paz, Trinidad, and Cochabamba
participated to the Congress.
During the Congress, the
Federation of Lasallian former students of
Bolivia (FELBO) was created and, after the
approval of its constituent statutes, the
Directive Council was chosen, with Mr. Helder
Bravo Chávez, member of the Association of Santa
Cruz de la Sierra, being appointed as President.
By participating to this Congress, UMAEL wanted
to express its support to this important event. |

UMAEL General Treasurer
2°) A proposal was launched to declare April,
30th, birth our Founder's Day, as the LASALLIAN SOLIDARITY DAY,
in which all Lasallian Former Students worldwide will be
asked to donate “the total earnings collected in one

through a Lasallian Solidarian/Humanitarian work. The
request will apply also to the rest of the Lasallian
Family (Parents, Teachers, Volunteers, etc.).
3º) All Federations and Associations of former
students over the world were proposed the application of
the SOLIDARITY DOLLAR (or the equivalent local
currency). This initiative consists of adding 1 $ to all
the activities carried out that imply any kind of
payment. It has two aims:
c) the spreading of solidarity consciousness,
d) financial aid to the most needy
Example:
If an Association organizes a cultural trip at the cost
of 23 $, the final price to be applied should be 23 $ +
