Manila 2011 – TODAY!

Dear Associates, Partners and Friends,

Manila 2011 ...It seems that the date we Lasallian Former Students set for our presence there, has now been pushed up a bit! Let me explain… As we all know the Philippines, and especially the island of Luzon which includes the capital, Manila, has been ravaged by a succession of violent typhoons that have cost the lives of over 700 people and left 80% of the city (No, it’s not a typo here…80%!) in dire straits. Besides that, the storms caused unimaginable damage to buildings, communication networks, goods and services, etc…

As is often the case, those who have so little to begin with are those most affected in these natural disasters. As Lasallians we can not be content to remain with our arms crossed…nor will we! Right from the fist day our Lasallian Family in the Philippines, through the Lasallian Commission for Peace & Justice, rolled up their sleeves and initiated the coordination of relief services to remediate this catastrophic situation.

We are now making an appeal to all Lasallians as individuals and as members of communities to respond to this call for assistance from our Philippine Lasallian Brothers and Sisters. Let’s add our support and in so doing reaffirm our unity as members of the world-wide Lasallian Family.

We are invited to send our contributions directly to a checking account that was specifically established for this purpose:
